I am an adult psychiatrist who practices both psychotherapy and medication management to treat a variety of mental health concerns including: mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, life transitions, and identity explorations. I have a special interest in working with people of color, LGBTQ+ identifying people, young adults, women, those who have experienced trauma, and those suffering from chronic illnesses.
My work with my patients is grounded in building strong therapeutic rapport to help my patients meet their treatment goals by examining how they hold themselves as individuals with unique identities and how they interface with communities and systems in the world. In my work, I pull from multiple principles of psychotherapy including cognitive behavioral, dialectical, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment, and psychodynamic.
I consider it a privilege to stand alongside my patients on their mental health journeys, and I strive to have our therapeutic relationship based in warmth, respect, and autonomy. As a proud Latina, I speak fluently in Spanish and am happy to incorporate language concordance into my work with patients.
I am a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where I first earned a B.A. in Italian Studies and later graduated from medical school with a scholarly concentration in Medical Education. I completed my psychiatry residency at the University of California San Francisco, where I gained extensive training in psychotherapy and practiced within both acute inpatient and ambulatory outpatient psychiatric care settings. I am currently licensed to practice in California and board-eligible for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Professionally, I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Northern California Psychiatric Society.
