Timothy Ando, MD (he/him)
General Adult Psychiatrist
San Francisco

I am a general adult psychiatrist practicing medication management and psychotherapy. I treat a variety of issues, including anxiety, panic, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, insomnia, trauma, relational difficulties, and exploration of identity. My style of psychotherapy draws from principles of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. Additionally, I have a special interest in helping college and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, navigate their early adulthood. In my practice, I highly value patient autonomy, prompt and honest communication, evidence-based practices, and shared decision making. Working together with my patients, I strive to understand their goals and experiences to the best of my ability and empower them to take on a leading role in their mental health treatment.

I earned my undergraduate degree at UCLA in Linguistics. I then completed medical school at the University of Iowa and adult psychiatry residency at Stanford University, where I served as Chief Resident for Stanford outpatient clinics and psychotherapy. I have experience in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, as well as in various systems such as Kaiser, the Stanford University counseling center, and La Selva partial hospital program.
