7 signs of suicidal thoughts you shouldn’t ignore
Many people experience moments of deep sadness or hopelessness. But when these thoughts turn toward ending your life, they can become dangerous and overwhelming without support.
Here are 7 signs of suicidal thoughts you shouldn’t ignore—especially if they’ve been affecting you for weeks or months.
1Feeling hopeless or trapped A sense that things will never get better or that there’s no way out can signal serious distress.
2Talking about death or suicide Expressing a wish to die, or making comments about not being here, is a warning sign to take seriously.
3Withdrawing from loved ones Pulling away from family, friends, or activities once enjoyed can signal deep emotional pain.
4Increased risky behaviors Engaging in reckless actions like unsafe driving or substance misuse can reflect self-destructive thoughts.
5Changes in sleep or appetite Sleeping too much or too little, or sudden changes in eating habits, may reflect inner turmoil.
6Sudden calm after turmoil A shift to sudden calm or cheerfulness after severe distress may indicate someone has made a dangerous decision.
7Feeling like a burden Believing others would be better off without you is a harmful but common sign of suicidal thinking.
