Dr. Tamara Bendahan (she/her/hers)
General Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Tamara Bendahan is a board-certified psychiatrist who sees adults of all ages for psychotherapy and medication management. Dr. Bendahan’s interests and expertise has focused on relationship and attachment issues, anxiety, trauma, major life transitions and women’s mental health. She has specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and dialectical behavioral therapies. When medications are needed she uses an evidence-based approach and will incorporate complementary and alternative treatments when they can be beneficial.
Dr. Bendahan graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Psychobiology. She received numerous awards while attending the Ohio State University College of Medicine for medical school, including the U.S. Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award. She completed the first three years of her General Psychiatry Residency training at Columbia/New York State Psychiatric Institute before being selected for the Public Psychiatry Fellowship at UCSF, where she completed her residency training. Dr. Bendahan is currently a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at the UCSF San Francisco General Hospital and undergoing advanced psychotherapy training through the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.
