Katherine Young, MD, MS
General Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Katherine Young is a board-certified psychiatrist who sees adults for psychotherapy and medication management. She has a particular interest in treating depression and anxiety states, especially as they are related to issues of low self-esteem, self-deprivation, cross-cultural and intergenerational communication roadblocks, trauma, and unresolved identity issues. Her psychotherapy practice is psychodynamically informed, and influenced by attachment theory, control mastery, and mindfulness-based approaches. Dr. Young earned her BA from UC Berkeley, and her medical degree from the UC Berkeley/UC San Francisco Joint Medical Program. She stayed on at UC San Francisco for her residency in psychiatry, and upon graduation, was awarded the Laughlin Award For Excellence in Clinical Care in recognition of her therapeutic skills and dedication to the welfare of her patients.
